Registration FAQ

  • Do I have to to register for both the AAAS Annual Meeting and the AJAS Conference. Do I need to do that again this year?
    • You only need to fill out one registration form for the AJAS Conference this year and our admin team will make sure you're registered for the AAAS Annual Meeting as well.
    • When registering, you will need to upload your abstract to both AAAS and AJAS, more information on that in the following question
  • Why do I have to submit my abstract information twice when registering?
    • You must submit your research information to AAAS to be featured in their program. If you do not submit your research information to AAAS, you may still present your research during the AJAS poster session, but you will not be featured in the AAAS program. You will have to provide your research information twice (once to AAAS and once to AJAS in this event registration form) so that we can cross-check the information provided between the two organizations.
  • AAAS, NAAS, AJAS... what do all these acronyms mean?
    • NAAS stands for the National Association of Academies of Science. NAAS runs AJAS, the honor society that leads the conference you are registering for. The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) hosts a different conference at the same time at the convention center. AJAS works with them to provide you access to both conferences.
  • How much does registration cost? When and how do I pay?
    • Every attendee will need to pay $475 online at the time of registration.
  • What is included with my registration?
  • What is my Attendee Type?
    • AJAS Official Delegates are students who are presenting research at the 2026 AJAS Annual Conference. This includes past AJAS Fellows who wish to attend the 2026 conference to present new research.
Student Observers are students, such as siblings or others as designated by the sponsoring academies, who are not delegates and do not present research.
Adults are teachers, official chaperones, NAAS board members, affiliated academy members, and parents/adult families.
AJAS Fellows Alumni are Official Delegates from previous years who are not presenting research at the 2026 Annual Conference.
  • My chaperone changed! How do I update the contact information for my chaperone after I have completed my registration?
  • How do I cancel my AJAS registration?
  • If I am not the person paying for my registration, how do I make sure my registration is paid?
    • All payments are due at the time of registration. Please make arrangements with the person who is paying for your registration ahead of time.
  • What if my state doesn’t have an academy that sends students to the AJAS conference?
    • Every high school student in the United States should have a pathway to attend the NAAS/AJAS Annual Conference and receive a fellowship. If a student believes that they qualify to attend the NAAS/AJAS Annual Conference and receive a fellowship, but live in a state or region in which there is no possible path to be selected for this honor, then that student should contact the NAAS/AJAS directly at admin@academiesofscience.org.
